David Aaron Sheingold

David's Story

David Sheingold has ten years of experience in the study and practice of mindfulness and meditation. His practice began after being diagnosed with a serious ailment when he was 22. Left with the options of undergoing rigorous and invasive western treatment which was as likely to kill him, he went looking for answers elsewhere and eventually found some meditation exercises which a Buddhist monk had posted online. After four months of practice David’s condition had subsided, sparking a profound interest and desire to share his new discovery with the world. He spent the next decade deepening his understanding and practice, studying under various teachers in the disciplines of yoga, eastern philosophy, Zen, Tibetan Buddhism, Bon, and Dzogchen, eventually earning a degree from Naropa University in Traditional Eastern Arts with a concentration in Taiji (Tai-Chi).  He is one of only a handful of people in the world who has been awarded this credential. In addition David has received the highest teachings (Dzogchen) in the Tibetan Bon-Buddhist tradition. David’s advancement in the eastern arts eventually led him to discover a newfound sense of creativity. After his time at Naropa he became a professional musician and within three years of embarking on this pursuit he was touring the country with members of R.E.M, The Posies, Big Star, Brandi Carlile, and Gregory Alan Isakov. David directly attributes his success and creative advancement to his practice in meditation and other eastern disciplines and is devoted to sharing his knowledge and experience with the world.
